Todd Slater hands down makes the coolest posters. I was searching online for some and I came across his website and I love him! Tell me this Big Lebowski poster isn't the coolest thing you have ever seen? (even cooler if you have actually seen the movie) Another really cool site is Status Serigraph! They make awesome posters, unfortunately like Todd Slater, they're all sold out.

I really love finding things that inspire me. As you can see from my room I love collecting things and displaying them. Things that reming me of memories, and things that inspire me! I always have an inspiration board in my room, but couldn't find space on my walls to hang a cork board so I haven't had one all semester. Finally I decided to rest a cork board on my dresser because I couldn't go another day without it. Everything from art, photos, and quotes that I find interesting I pin them up. I also keep a folder with me so I can save things that I want to pin up on the next board!
Here is my current board: Here is the final product of me messing around on photoshop trying to create a neon sign effect! Definitely could use a little more time, but is such a fun thing to create!
Tonight we will dance. I am sure many of you have heard of the awesome website, Society6. If you haven't it is a website for artists to upload and sell their products. I am addicted to this website and always have a full shopping cart whenever I search threw the new things from artists I follow! It is great because it requires minimal effort for artists because society6 does all the work. They do, however get a large portion of the profit, but I don't have to do any work except upload my art to the website! I really recommend you check it out! Here is my page!
I have been home for just about 24 hours, and it has been a struggle to keep myself entertained. The rest of my family has holiday parties and things to do, while I am just sitting around, waiting for my friends to get home from school! Tonight, I binged on season 8 of Dexter, and fooled around on photoshop. Here are some simple type prints I created which you can find on society6!
My roommate asked me for make her one of these things. I took more time on this one than I did with the other sketches, but I lost patience and tried to wrap it up quickly. I hope to edit it in Illustrator and make it look cleaner and straighter, and possibly add more detail, but here is the hand-drawn version!
I took the hand lettering I did, imported it to my computer and placed it on top of this image of Marcus Mumford taken by the extremely talented, James Marcus Harvey.
As some of you know I have a bit of an ADD problem, and when I forget to take my medicine before class I struggle a bit sometimes trying to pay attention. You can just look through my notebook and tell which days I remembered to take it (very nice and structured notes) versus the days I forget (crazy doodles and random stuff). Today I forgot, and even brought my sketchbook to class because I knew it would be hopeless. I love looking at typography and decided to practice my own! Emphasis on practice because its really rough, and i don't have the patience to actually measure things, color them in or make anything anywhere near perfect. Maybe I will get there eventually? It started off as random doodles and then, of course, turned into Mumford and Sons lyrics, I mean what else?
When I was in high school and started studying Graphic Design I discovered a new type of art, typography. Many people do not think about words and letters as art, but it can completely make or break a design. I think typography is so interesting the way it can transform a boring statement into something so powerful. It can vary from the simple type you write an essay with or what you read in a brochure, to having letters form a shape, or tell a story. You may have seen this print around "you are more perfect than Helvetica" and wondered what they are talking about. Helvetica is known as the most perfect font. In high school I watched a two hour movie on it. Literally, a two hour movie on the making of a font. I am basically obsessed with this font and use it as often as possible. The fact that teachers make me use Times New Roman, really bothers me. Helvetica is one side of typography, while on the other hand we have something like this: So, next time you're doodling, try doing something with words and see what you can come up with!
