When I first started writing this blog I reviewed every movie I had recently seen. Well that got to be a little overwhelming because that is what I love to do most, watch movies. I haven't done a movie review in a while but I have to with this one. Straight Outta Compton was one of the best movies I have seen in a very very long time. It blew me away. You know a movie is good when you can't stop thinking about it days later. I saw it on Thursday and today, Sunday, I am sitting here writing this post listening to the N.W.A remastered album on Spotify. This movie came out at a great time with the whirlwind of racial issues going on right now, giving you a first hand look at unfair violence against African Americans that unfortunately does not seem to be anywhere near from over. This movie showed the brutal truth of life in Compton and what these boys went through. The casting in this movie was impeccable, everyone looked exactly like the character they portrayed including Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dogg. Ice Cube was portrayed by his own son O'Shea Jackson Jr. and I loved seeing the way he played his dad. This movie was incredibly sad but also really funny combined with exceptional music. I can't talk enough about this movie, I need to see it again. GO SEE IT! Rotten Tomatoes gave it 88%

Wouldn't it be so nice to be Kendall Jenner running around France with all your top model friends? yeah it would... I love the film festival and would die if I ever went! It let actors and actresses do films they are passionate about and really shows film as an art form instead of a box office money maker. I love looking at the film selections, and even though I will see very few of these films its nice to be able to see trailers of films made by directors from all over the world. The film part is great and all but the fashion part, is even greater. Kendall Jenner completely won the entire week when she stepped out in this perfect, stunning Calvin Klein. Red CarpetBecause it is a full week of events there are too many amazing dresses and outfits to write about each one. So in typical Mady fashion I'm just going to bullet point my initial thoughts on the dresses that stood out to me the most on the red carpet.
1. Kendall Jenner can wear anything, the skirt is beautiful, but I dont love the top. Only she can pull something like that off. 2. That Lanvin dress is the best thing I have seen in a long time. I wish she wasn't so thin, it would look better if it fit her better. 3. Karlie Kloss is so hot even when she wears a dress that looks like a gothic suitcase. I love it. 4. Ohhh Oscar I miss you. She looks soooo good in this it's so pretty and we rarely see "pretty" dresses like this anymore. 5. I'm so in love with Sienna Miller and everything she wears. She always wears something new and is the coolest girl around. 9. Only she can pull off an elegant Grecian dress with dread locks. I love how cool she is. 10. I am a huge fan of Mélanie Laurent and she looks so beautiful in this Zuhair Murad in her homeland. It is my dream to one day venture out to Park City, Utah to attend a Sundance Film Festival. An 11 day event of film, music, art, and so much more. It is such an amazing program that supports international and independent films. Many of our most famous films we have today premiered at Sundance. I am dying to see some of the films that are being viewed over there right now, but unfortunately if you're not attending, we have to wait quite a while to see them, if ever. Here are some trailers of some amazing looking films I hope come out in the near future! Most films haven't even released their trailers yet, but the ones that have make this years festival look amazing! Zoë Kravitz, Forest Whitaker, Blake Anderson, AND A$AP Rocky? Im sold. I don't know about you but I am a major sucker for Jonah Hill in a Dramatic Role. I have mixed feelings about James Franco but I'll always give him a chance. "A beautiful, black-and-white drama that's sure to satiate your French New Wave cravings" Two of my favorite films, Breathless and Jules and Jim, are French New Wave. I cannot wait to see this one. I have a feeling, however, I might be in the theatre alone. "The trailer for Princess is seriously creepy (in part because of the abusive relationships that it hints at), but it also hints at the film's blurring of role play, fantasy, and reality, which is supposed to play a big part in the narrative. It's certainly looks like some intriguing storytelling." Exactly. This doesn't look like a typical movie I would normally be drawn to but, this looks awesome. It may just be the music, but I can't wait to see what this movie is all about! I have insanely mixed feelings about this documentary. It Pervert Park is a look inside a neighborhood located in Florida, whose residents are former sex offenders. This looks extremely disturbing. I hope it does not make what these people did seem okay. At the same time, this looks incredibly sad. Definitely a good watch. It's winter break!! I know what everyone is doing with their time, watching Netflix. The worst part about Netflix is trying to find the perfect thing to watch. That's where I come in, here are some of my favorite movies/documentaries on Netflix. I chose the ones that many people haven't seen! As you may realize... I like the indies. I have a massive list of movies I wanted to share but I realized, when you're lying around all day watching movies, you don't always want super serious ones. These are lighthearted and funny, and some are very cool! I have watched them all at last twice! I am all about Lena. I may say this a lot, but I mean it this time. I am obsessed with Lena Dunham. I fell in love with her the second I started watching Girls, my favorite TV show (I've watched each season at least twice.) She is an unbelievable writer, director, and actor and is the voice of our generation. I have seen and read almost everything she has done, she is so inspirational, relatable, and hilarious! As you probably (hopefully) know she has published her book, Not That Kind of Girl, which I ran out to the store to buy the day it came out. I tore that book apart, staying up till 2am and neglecting my schoolwork and social life to finish it. My favorite thing to do when reading books, especially biographies is to mark down the pages with my favorite quotes to refer back to later on. Unfortunately as I am writing this post I remembered I lent the book to a friend, so.... here are quotes that I googled from the book that I remembered I liked. Lena gets criticized a lot for what she stands for and how she acts. It really bothers me when people have harsh opinions of her being a feminist. Feminism has such a negative stigma and I sometimes find myself thinking negatively of it. They are not all crazy lesbians who hate men and don't shave their armpits. Although they do exist that is not what a feminist is. To me, a feminist is someone who believes that women deserve to be treated equally and stand up for each other.
“Feminism doesn’t mean women are going to rise, take over the planet, and like cut off men’s testicles.” "There is room for all of us." Secondly she gets a lot of shit from people telling her she is not attractive enough to show her body on her TV show. If you feel that way. get.over.it. You really bother me. How dare you tell someone she's not attractive enough to be comfortable in her own skin on her own show! If you don't like it, don't watch it .... and grow up! I have mentioned my Kevin Smith obsession multiple times before and I am thrilled that he has a new movie out. I haven't seen it yet because it is slightly difficult finding someone who is willing to go see a movie like this with me. Kevin Smith is one of my all time favorite directors: Clerks Chasing Amy Jay and Silent Bob and the best... Red State and now... TUSK I'll say this again, one of the greatest books I have every read.
Comic Con 2014 just finished and I felt so left out. It is literally my dream to go, it's embarrassing I know, but you can't admit it would be the coolest thing in the world to attend! A lot of cool things happened the past week at the convention and I have to share them all. If you think I'm strange; read this entire blog and at the end you can come apologize to me because this is where all the cool stuff happens. Charlie Hunnam couldn't make Comic Con and sent this video, if you watch Sons of Anarchy, you will understand that this is the greatest video in the world. (Thanks to my cousin Gray for sharing this with me) The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 trailer For those of you who know me I am obsessed with Family Guy. I have watched every season and sometimes the voice in my head sounds like Stewie, not kidding. At the Family Guy panel they did a Family Guy and Simpsons crossover aka the best thing ever. Here's the 5 minute clip they released. Game. Of. Thrones. BLOOPERS. Need I say more? The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies trailer aka the movie where shit finally starts happening. YES. YES. YESSS. KEVIN SMITHHHH I seriously CAN'T contain my excitement over this upcoming film. Kevin Smith is one of my most favorite people in the whole wide world. I believe he may have been like one of my first couple of blog posts! Ugh I am so obsessed with him and everything he does because it's weird and I like weird stuff. Anyways here's his newest film (finally). It's about a podcast writer who travels to Canada to meet with this old guy who tries to turn Justin Long (yes) into a walrus. I know everyone reading this is like wtf Mady but I don't care. Also: drop everything you are doing and go watch Clerks I and Red State. AH! Okay I could probably write about Comic Con all day but I would like to keep some of my friends and this is getting weird. Awesome, but weird. SO, here some outfits I liked because that's what this blog was originally supposed to be about. Awesome film festival that takes place in Cannes, France! These are the films I am looking forward to seeing (or not), or thinking you might enjoy! The Films
FashionBest looks so far! Reminder it is a festival, aka multiple days that's why a lot of people are on this multiple times I come from an amazingly talented family.
