I dragged my mom and sister to the independent film theatre, Angelika again and made them see the movie Her with me. It was one of the best movies I have seen in theaters in a really long time. It's one of those movies that leaves such lasting impression on you when you leave the theatre and makes you think for a while after. What is so weird about this film, is the fact that the actual story was my least favorite part. Basically, Joaquin Phoenix plays Theodore Twombly and falls in love with his computer. It's basically like he fell in love with a more updated Siri, who learns how to feel emotions. It's pretty weird but the movie was so beautiful. It was so insightful and actually made me tear up during the happy parts.
The costume design was so perfect. All the women wore quirky clothes with fully buttoned up shirts, while the men wore extremely high-wasted pants. You can see the vivid colors Joaquin wears, always bright reds, sometimes with hints of orange, paired with grey and brown matching his awesome horn rimmed glasses. Big props to designer, Casey Storm.
Casey Storm collaborated with brilliant cinematographer, Hoyte van Hoytema. This movie has really made me re-consider cinematography as a possible future.
Fantastic movie, Joaquin Phoenix gave an amazing performance, as did Amy Adams. Seriously go see this movie, I'll go again with you!
I mean just look at the movie poster itself, awesome.
