When I first started writing this blog I reviewed every movie I had recently seen. Well that got to be a little overwhelming because that is what I love to do most, watch movies. I haven't done a movie review in a while but I have to with this one. Straight Outta Compton was one of the best movies I have seen in a very very long time. It blew me away. You know a movie is good when you can't stop thinking about it days later. I saw it on Thursday and today, Sunday, I am sitting here writing this post listening to the N.W.A remastered album on Spotify. This movie came out at a great time with the whirlwind of racial issues going on right now, giving you a first hand look at unfair violence against African Americans that unfortunately does not seem to be anywhere near from over. This movie showed the brutal truth of life in Compton and what these boys went through. The casting in this movie was impeccable, everyone looked exactly like the character they portrayed including Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dogg. Ice Cube was portrayed by his own son O'Shea Jackson Jr. and I loved seeing the way he played his dad. This movie was incredibly sad but also really funny combined with exceptional music. I can't talk enough about this movie, I need to see it again. GO SEE IT!
