Pronounced: "high am"

Beyond obsessed with this awesome band of three sisters, Este, Danielle, and Alana. They have toured with Mumford, Florence, and Monsters of Men. Yes they are a girl band, but they're actually so cool. Re-defined that horribly cheesy "girl-power" stereotype. Here's their video, Falling. I believe I also posted The Wire somewhere below!

Graphicz

I clearly love graphic design, typography, etc. I love making those little quotations and drawing little dingbat things around the words. I love finding new designs and weirdly, I get the best inspiration from people's tattoos. I have found so many cool ones lately and I'm really into it. I have no plans on inking myself, but I'm a little nervous I might convince myself to... considering Im clearly going through a new phase lately (graphic t-shirts, black nail police, middle part, etc.) Its hilarious because If you knew me 1, 2 years ago it's like I did a complete 180. Now, the thought of walking around in anything Lilly Pulitzer makes me cringe. I have no idea why since I was all about the pink and green a while back. So weird! Anyway, here are some really cool tattoos I have found that I like to doodle in my sketchbooks, and sometimes on my skin. But they always wash off ;) Even if you're not into tattoos you have to admit these are cool!
Mom you do not have to worry, I promise.
I drew the last one on my hand last Friday, and completely forgot about it. But its okay because I went out in a  Sandlot t-shirt, a jean jacket, and a big gold necklace…. so weird was the theme of my outfit I guess.

Gotta Move to Portland

Everyone was posting this online quiz about where you'r meant to live. People were getting L.A., London, NYC, etc. Exepecting to get the same, I took the quiz and ….
I got Portland.
I was like wtf? So I looked up what its really about, and I am officially in love.
Here's why:
Picture
The first photo when you google Portland culture.
Picture
They have men who knit at the airport.
Picture
People lock up their hula hoops, a lot.
Picture
Other Things I have found:
1. They don't honk.  I hate honking and can never do it, and when someone honks at me I go through 3 stages: being scared, to near tears, to anger. No good.
2. When you Google, Portland. The recommended option to click on is Hipster. Sweet, love those guys
.3. According to The Independent "It's  a verdant, friendly, indie-orientated mixture of guitar bands, checked shirts, tattoo parlours, animal rescues, coffee snobbery, Pinot, thrift stores and food trucks."

Guess I need to start watching Portlandia to prepare for my move.

If you have not heard of someecards, then you're dumb. They crack me up every time, probably because I find so many that describe my life perfectly it's like someone wrote them just for me.
I seriously couldn't even narrow them down they're all spot on.

Music Monday

Currently, I am sitting in the library pretending to study for French, but I just don't have it in me tonight, or really ever. The only good part about coming to the library is this is the one time I find good music. I procrastinate like its my job on spotify and song kick looking for new music, and upcoming concerts. Here it is: Music Monday, a few songs that get me through rough Monday nights!
I love The Arctic Monkeys, but…come on you have a dumb name.
Great song, horrible music video. DONT watch it. It kind of ruined the song for me. The word Tessallate means to cover with mosaic, which is so cool! I expected like a weird psychedelic, hippy video but this just looks like a bunch of trashy people in an empty building. Maybe I just don't understand this concept. BUT really cool song.
I'm sure many of you have heard this before, its such a pretty song. Angus and Julia Stone are awesome!
Also, another disappointing music video, its just nothing special compared to the actual song.

The Grammys

As EVERYONE knows from the unnecessary amounts of tweets, The Grammys was on tonight.
No, I did not watch it.
I don't like watching the Grammys because its all Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, and Taylor Swifty and that is not okay.
Instead of watching, I knitted a scarf.. actually not kidding I took up knitting this weekend. While I was knitting I was listening to music and thinking about how all of the amazing artists who deserve to win a grammy over someone like Taylor Swift.
Im sorry I just really don't like her, she's weird and I don't understand how everyone hasn't realized that yet.
So I decided to make my OWN Grammys because I want to share some good music, and I don't want to study for my graphic design quiz tomorrow…
I was going to make categories and winners, but I was losing patience, so ALL these people deserve Grammys for releasing fantastic albums this year:

Gentlemen of the Road

For those of you who do not know, both Mumford and Sons albums, Sign No More and Babel were released from the record label, Gentlemen of the Road (also the title for the last Mumford tour). Recently, the label released its FIRST non-mumford album. This is the greatest news ever, because the album to be released… the beautiful, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros! I am so excited for this! Of course, I must give a congratulations to Alex Ebert, who is the lead singer of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros (no his name is not Edward Sharpe) for winning a Golden Globe for best original score, for the film "All is Lost." I saw them perform at Firefly last year and they were so amazing,
here is a nice little preview of the album:

Tumblr is a great website for creating a blog, you can either repost things from other people, or upload your own! I use it to find cool pictures, then I usually pin them to Pinterest. My two favorite Tumblrs are The Chic Type Blog, and Otherwordly. I have both of them bookmarked on my computer tab.
Here are examples of what you can find on their sites!
