Thanks so much to everyone who reads my blog, y'all are awesome! For one of my design classes we had to make a website so I decided to make this my official new site that combined both my blog and my portfolio because I feel they are interconnected! So, here is my new site, http://www.mtgrow.com. Still working out the kinks but its up and runnin!! thanks!! Click Below!
Fall weather has arrived and I have done my fair share of research finding the best fall shoes. I am really into three different shoes this fall, the Lace-Up Ballet Flat, the Chelsea boot, and the Smoking Loafer. I have a hard time finding good shoes for the fall which is frustrating because fall clothes are my favorite. I am really getting sick of the riding boot and have felt very uninspired when getting ready therefore have been resorting to sweatshirts and workout pants. //River Island Ghillie Lace Up Ballerina Flat Shoes : Asos // Nine West Signmeup Lace-Up Flats : Macys // // Dolce Vita Brannon Smoking Loafers : Anthropologie // LIBBIE Slipper Ballets : Asos //
IT'S FASHION WEEK! Although not my favorite season I do really love looking at new spring wear! Here's a peak into my favorite collections thus far. But remember, this is just New York, we have a few weeks to go across the WORLD!! New York has seen a lot the past week on the runways, and I am loving what I have been seeing! It's that time of year, when stores start having their summer sales and bring in the new Fall goods, even though it is still 90 degrees! It might be one of my favorite times of year because I LOVE FALL FASHION! I love it because of the deep, rich colors, and layers! There's nothing better! My birthday is also in the fall (October 15th if you wanna get me somethin' special) so I tend to scour online shopping sites for things to wish for! :) Here, I have compiled a list of the things I am really loving this fall. Rebecca Minkoff Suede Finn Crossbody in PortI love love love this color during fall, I want a new crossbody, but I need something different if I am going to spend the money. This color with the suede fringe is exactly what I am talking about!! A Stella McCartney Key FobOkay, this will never happen for me, I realize that, but these are the best things I have ever seen! Keychains/fobs are big right now and these are the only ones I can find that I really love! Personally, I love sharks, so that pink shark keychain is right up my alley! They go for $150-$200... ouch. iPhone CaseUnfortunately, I am still rockin' the iPhone 5... So these cases are out of my reach, which breaks my heart just a little. But make me jealous and get one of these amazing cases. I recommend buying more than one, I love switching my cases around! These are all from Shopbop.com! The first one, from Kate Spade, I had when I had an iPhone 4 and I got so many compliments! Lentacular Eyes : Kate Spade // Lust Tan Multi : Jordan Carlyle // Paper Crown Peach Blossom: Rifle Paper Co. // Evil Eye Transparent : Sonix // Cactus : Sonix // Stoned : Zero Gravity // PendantsStatement necklaces, are a thing of the past! I recently got rid of a lot of mine, but kept a few of my favorites that I will definitely still wear. Right now I am really into pendants and layering. I've been searching for some small gold pendants to wear together and it is pretty tough, you want to make sure your necklaces are different lengths when layering. I found the PERFECT one the other day at Banana Republic, a teeny tiny skull on a 36" chain which is a rare find, so I have been searching for some more to go with it! If you have necklace you want to wear and are the same length, use my little trick : paper clips on the back where the hooks are! WatchesI love watches, honestly not really to tell time with, but I love the look of them. They used to be so big back in high school, those clunky white Michael Kors watches! I definitely had one of those, but I believe I took it back after I saw Amanda Seyfried in some Nicholas Sparks movie. She had a brown leather one and I was in love. I still have mine even though it doesn't work. I used to still wear it, but people kept asking me the time and when I told them my watch doesn't work they looked at me funny. I love thin bands and wide faces. Gold over Silver everyday. Flowershow Watercolor : Olivia Burton // Large Face : Asos
When I first started writing this blog I reviewed every movie I had recently seen. Well that got to be a little overwhelming because that is what I love to do most, watch movies. I haven't done a movie review in a while but I have to with this one. Straight Outta Compton was one of the best movies I have seen in a very very long time. It blew me away. You know a movie is good when you can't stop thinking about it days later. I saw it on Thursday and today, Sunday, I am sitting here writing this post listening to the N.W.A remastered album on Spotify. This movie came out at a great time with the whirlwind of racial issues going on right now, giving you a first hand look at unfair violence against African Americans that unfortunately does not seem to be anywhere near from over. This movie showed the brutal truth of life in Compton and what these boys went through. The casting in this movie was impeccable, everyone looked exactly like the character they portrayed including Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dogg. Ice Cube was portrayed by his own son O'Shea Jackson Jr. and I loved seeing the way he played his dad. This movie was incredibly sad but also really funny combined with exceptional music. I can't talk enough about this movie, I need to see it again. GO SEE IT! Rotten Tomatoes gave it 88% I have always, I mean always loved makeup. I began experimenting when I was really young and haven't stopped since. I have become more laid back about it, discovering ways to look more natural and leaving the darker eyeshadows for the evening. I didn't really understand the difference between daytime and nighttime when it came to my daily makeup routine. I have figured it out (sort of) and would love to share my favorite things I use almost every day. Face wipes rock. They really do, otherwise I would be so bad at taking off my makeup every night. It is SO important to wash your face after each day, you will regret it when you are older if you don't. I love Neutrogena wipes they have a ton of moisture that makes it really easy, I use these when I am exhausted, or intoxicated (you know the feeling) and don't want to spend time taking off my makeup. It does have a fair amount of alcohol in them which dries out your skin, making you look even worse in the morning after a night of drinking. Investing in better wipes is a better and smarter option for your skin. I love Josie Maran's Bear Naked wipes. The first is because buying these supports the polar bears. Yay! Also, they are way better for your skin! It is best to wipe your face at the end of the day with actual makeup remover. I haven't found one I love yet, but stay tuned I'm still searching! One time I read in a magazine that Drew Barrymore uses these, so I obviously ran to CVS and grabbed a bunch and I am in L O V E. These things have saved my life. I use them every morning and night and they make my face feel so clean and refreshed. When I absolutely can't stand the thought of splashing water all over my face before bed with regular cleanser, I use one of these wipes and my face feels instantly refreshed. Nothing bothers me more than when I see someone use a makeup wipe then hit the sheets. Ew. Too much oil and your face is not clean yet. I like to use these in the mornings too before my moisturizer, I may be over doing it but I'm addicted. They can be hard to find in store now so head to drugstore.com and buy a whole bunch of them! Trust me! The best part about these is their individually packaged wipes that you can travel with!! I picked this guy up in the sample aisle in Sephora. You know what I'm talking about, that little aisle is the worst. I get all these little samples and end up spending three times what I was planning on spending! However, it is a great place to experiment and try new things (aka what samples are for!). This argan oil is amazing!!! I really don't know what it can't be used for. I use it as a moisturizer for my skin, and my split ends. It also is great for acne, bug bites, and literally everything else. Try it once, and you'll never want to be separated from this! It also comes in a travel size!! A little goes a long way so a travel size may be all you need! It also comes in a lighter formula. Okay, yeah I love Josie products. They feel so natural and make my skin feel so soft. I want to buy everything they make. Seriously, This body butter (also picked up in the sample aisle) smells so good I want to eat it. I am pretty bad about putting on lotion, I hate the feeling of being sticky. but this stuff is so lightweight, I keep it in my nightstand and run it on my hands and arms before bed. The calming smell puts me right to sleep. One of the main things I am self conscious about is my dark circles. I have really really bad ones probably due to stress and lack of sleep, but they are so hard to get rid of. I went to a makeup counter and they recommended three products to cover them up. The thought of layering that much under my eyes every morning did not sound fun. Then, I found this. Cle de Peau, a bank breaker, but a face maker. If that makes sense. This is my #1 can't live without product, and at $70 for one thing of concealer, it better be really effin' good.... and it is. I apply this with a concealer brush and a beauty bender say goodbye to dark circles and gross pimps. Bobbi Brown is one of my favorite makeup brands, very trust worthy, and not too expensive. This is the first non-drugstore brand I started using when I was younger and I still love it today. This bronzer is the best. I hate shimmery bronzer. What most don't realize is that shimmery bronzer is not made to be put on your whole face. I can't tell you how many women I have been with in the sun and they look ridiculous with a glittery face. Just don't do it. This bronzer is perfect, and natural. Make sure you do an E shape on the sides of your face, and a swipe down your nose and on your chin. Also please blend into your neck, you don't want two different skin tones that's embarrassing. Luckily I was born with a pretty pink face, which I used to hate. I rarely use blush, but on the rare occasion I use some foundation, blush is necessary. It is very hard to understand how to apply blush therefore most women avoid it, but it makes you look younger, and prettier if you use just a little bit. This pot rouge for lips and cheeks is amazing I touch it lightly with my pointer fingers and blend a teeny tiny bit onto the apples of my cheeks. Really focus on your blush because there is a fine line between youthful, and looking like a clown. Nars is the trendy brand I go to when I'm looking to experiment. This liquid liner is amazing I found this sophomore year of college and haven't stopped using it since. I use navy (Atlantic) during the day, which is slightly unconventional but I love navy liquid liner, it's more my style. I use black (Carpates) at night when I am doing a smoky eye. Liquid liner is tough, I get it, but don't be afraid of it! I use a simple Almay black liner from the drugstore first and try to line my lash line as close as possible because its hard to get right up to the edge with a liquid liner. After that, I apply this and it really looks good (I think) I use this every single day, no exceptions. I have gone through one hundred million different mascaras and Lancome will always be my go-to. However just because this works for me doesn't mean this will work for you, everyone is different and needs a different type of mascara. I love this because I like a thin wand that lets me get to the bottom of my lashes without messing up my eyeshadow. I used to think curling your lashes was only for high maintenance girls, until I started using them, now I can't go a day without it. TRUST ME you need to start curling your lashes I can't stress this enough it is such an underrated step. I love Shu Uemura, but honestly that's just because I was told it was the best. I haven't tried any others because this has worked so well for me. Recent PurchasesRecently, yesterday, I hit up Sephora for a makeup brush and came out with a ton of good stuff.... because I have a problem. A NEW NAKED PALETTE!!!! I walked into the store and this was the first thing I saw and I freaked out (on the inside) I love Urban Decays Naked Palettes I have all four. They are fairly expensive ($50) so you don't need all four, check them out and decide (or get help) which one works best for you! This one is the new smoky eye palette and I can't wait to try it. I'll start by saying I never ever use any kind of foundation. Ever. I just think it looks caked on and it's too much effort. I decided to try this tinted moisturizer for oily skin, honestly because I was in a spending mood. Its pretty good so far, feels really nice and light. I use it under concealer and translucent powder and it works great!! Laura Mercier is known for her tinted moisturizer and now I see why! I always buy lipstick, but never wear it. I like the thought of wearing it but I feel self conscious and feel as if I'm trying too hard. But as I am entering the adult world it feels okay to try it out. This one is pretty close to my natural lip color and is super moisturizing! The feeling really sold me on this because it feels like chapstick. When looking for lipstick spend the time to find the right color and be patient. Nothing makes you look more inexperienced than the wrong shade. This color is Rose Boudoir from Givenchy.
And there you go! I have a ton of other products that I love and would love to share with you if you have any questions! I am a pantone fanatic and love the collections they put out. Each year they name the Color of the Year and this year the color is . . . . Marsala ooh ahh This color is perfect for fall (my fave season!) Yes, I realize it's basically burgundy and you can call it that. This color is always a favorite of mine for the fall as well as olive, navy, and deep plum. After the art post I did a few weeks ago I have been non-stop looking at different sites to find cool, inexpensive art. I decided since I am moving into a new place and getting to re-do another room that I want more art and less photos of friends and family... sorry guys. I have hung a few items, ones that I was sure I wanted to display in my room. I have three pieces of art that i have done that I actually love. These are truly the only things I have created that I really enjoy. They are all from the same art class I took in college: 2-d design. It dealt with making collages and I just figured since I loved what I made then, I should try it again! I have been looking through old magazines I have hoarded cutting out images to compile a large collection for when I begin collaging. Here are some super cool collage prints I have found and want to share, hopefully you feel the same way I do! It's summer and it's hot, obviously. But it's hard to buy something for summer now because fall is right around the corner. This has been my favorite look this summer as I never wear shorts. Buy these pieces and you'll be set. I love denim and white. Its so fresh and classic and you can't go wrong. Ripped Jeans are BIG right now, but who knows they might be out the door in a few months so I recommend buying them cheap or ripping up an old pair you already have! Ripped jeans can look super trashy, I get that, but there are ways to make them look both nice & casual. Trust me. Just an FYI I am not by any means approving ripped jean shorts. My favorite shop for this trend (and in general) is Madewell. They have everything you need to mix nice + casual. Madewell |
