I can't resist. I said I wouldn't share all the looks from London Fashion Week, but looking at them I have to share them.

London Fashion week has just wrapped up and everyone is headed to Milan! Ill refrain from doing what I did during NYFW posting about every one of my favorite shows. Instead, i want to talk about one of my favorite designers Alice Temperley of Temperley London. I fell in love with her romantic style and her use of colors and prints. Her Spring 2015 RTW collection features more everyday wear as she is broadens her label. Let us all remember when I accidentally stumbled upon her bridal boutique in Nottinghill in London while headed to the design museum. Best moment ever. Don't even get me started on her bridal collection, it's insane.
It's New York Fashion Week and we all know what that means! I won't be doing anything important and instead will be spending my time on style.com looking at all the new collections for Spring 2015! As always when fashion week comes around I love to post my favorite looks from my favorite designers! Let's see what these crazy people want us to be wearing next year shall we? It's not over yet, you can catch up on all the shows and even Live Stream a lot of them on Style.com. So I guess I won't be getting any work done this week.
It is finally time I write a blog post about my time abroad in my favorite city in the whole wide world. I posted a while back about the amazing weekend trips I took abroad in Barcelona, Paris, Edinburgh, and Bath. However, I couldn't get myself to write about my time in London because I missed it so much I honestly might get emotional ... I know. I wish all my pictures and videos could accurately describe my time in London but it doesn't come close. It was honestly the most amazing experience for me. Being somewhat alone in a foreign city for two months. It was my first time out of the US (not counting my trip to Atlantis in HS). It was so scary (especially that 7 hour flight over the ocean) but I, without getting too cheesy here, grew so much as a person and after only two months I now know myself better and have become so much more independent. I met the greatest people in London and was so fortunate to have experience this trip with 25 other amazing people. We are all so different and probably would never have become friends if it was not for this trip, but I am so glad we did. I know these people better than I do most of my friends that I have known since elementary school. Enough sentimental time. Our trip consisted of navigating London, finding the best shops, museums, restaurants, markets, and pubs, drinking cider (all day every day), a little bit of class, and a whole lot of pub crawls. My favorite memories actually are the days I had to myself. Trying to make my way around the busy city without a working phone was definitely interesting. But, I made it and stumbled upon some amazing things (Tour de France, and a tattoo museum- cool!) I don't think I could write just one post about London, it would be 100 pages long. Therefore I will start with my favorite part. The Art. I was so excited to go to London knowing they are a huge city full of famous street art. I couldn't wait to explore and every time I stumbled upon something it just made me fall more and more in love with the city. Most of the Museums I went to, I went by myself which I enjoyed more than having tour guide. I like to spend my own time there and not worry about taking too long and certain exhibits. Most of the museums unfortunately did not allow photography. Occasionally I would get a sneaky pic (and often got into trouble) but I do have some pictures of my favorite places! This is the one museum I had been dying to go to because I did a presentation in my graphic design class on the man who created the logo! I went by myself and this was by far my favorite day in London. It was so stunning, they had sculptures and tapestries from countries around the world, they had a history of fashion exhibit, and the Glamour of Italian fashion. A huge room filled with jewelry, a photography exhibit, Wedding dresses, stain glass, graphic design, and theatre costumes and sets. It was honestly the coolest place I had ever been. I have very mixed feelings about this museum. First, it smells weird. Second, I really don't enjoy modern art, half of the art exhibits looked like shit. Actual shit (see below). However, overall it's a really cool place regardless of your taste in art.
My last free day I went and spent 20 pounds on the Henri Matisse cutout exhibit, it was amazing! YES I love this new trend! Everyone else is hating on it but I am obsessed. Its basically people wearing things everyone swore off in the late 90's early 2000's and are now ironically making them cool. Urban Dictionary: A subculture based on conscious, artificial adoption of things that are in widespread use, proven to be acceptable, or otherwise inoffensive. Vogue: the notion of dressing in an utterly conventional, nondescript way. Bland anti-style. K-Hole (Trend Forecasters): Normcore moves away from a coolness that relies on difference to a post-authenticity that opt into sameness. Founder of K-Hole, Emily Segal said, "There's an exhaustion with trying to seem different. People are genuinely tired by the fact that to achieve status you need to be different from everyone else around you. My take: stop stressing out about what you look like and trying to come up with the most interesting outfit. Throw on jeans and a t-shirt. I'm not saying you have to take it to the extreme and walk around looking like Jerry Seinfeld, but relax. So dig out your old Fruit of the Loom undies, velcro strapped Adidas sandals, and even those Birkenstocks. ...and thats it! A little 90's and early 2000's
flannel, light denim, pullovers and sneaks. have fun! Okay I hope I am not the only person who does this. When I find a person I like, either in a movie, or in a band, whatever. I have this habit of wanting to know all about them. I don't know what it is I just love finding out interesting things about people. There is so much to people that you have no idea about. Secret talents, hobbies, whatever. I especially love finding super successful people like actors or musicians and finding out they have amazing hidden talents. It also makes me think I should probably start working on my own stuff as opposed to wasting time with these other people... Jeff Bridges is someone who I have loved since seeing my now favorite movie, The Big Lebowski. Weirdly enough I never went and actually looked him up before. I loved him as The Dude, but never really thought about him as a real person. My loss, he's freaking awesome. I was watching the latest Jimmy Fallon and Jeff was a guest. Jimmy recently mentioned Jeff going on tour with his band, The Abiders. So already he is The Dude, and has a band. He's cooler than you. He will be in Alexandria on August 31st! I must go. Definitely a little more country than I usually listen to but it's Jeff Bridges. Now, his website: It looks like spray paint and it has the most random things on there. Like... DOODLES Seriously I could spend hours on his website. There's random articles about twerking fails and Miniature trains. It's basically like my blog, he clearly just posts whatever the hell he wants. I love it. His daughter, Jessie Bridges is a phenomenal singer. He also wrote a book called The Dude and the Zen Master which I am about to buy. I just love this man and everything he does. He is way cooler than I could ever hope to be. Ugh, what a guy!
Last night I went to a Nationals game, baseball definitely isn't my sport but I realized I probably should get more interested in it once I saw Bryce Harper and Jayson Werth up on the big screen! Football is starting up, and the hockey anticipation is rising. In honor of my beloved DC sports and my History of Facial Hair class I am taking this fall, here are the men with the best beard game around. RedskinsBig Men, Bigger Beards Nationalsat least Jayson and Bryce make up for the the team's lack of facial hair therefore they get two photos. CapitalsFinally some REAL men, even the newbies They also have luscious locks This is why I love them...I realize that's a stupid title. I love Instagram probably too much! It is my favorite app and I want to use it everyday! I love finding new people to follow so I can be jealous of their lives, photography skills, and creativity. Here are my Insta favs that you should follow! Photographers, artists, designers, and explorers. I love them all! |
